Our Editorial Approach

We aim for grounded, accurate writing about esoteric subjects — not hype, not dismissal. Here's how we get there.

How we research

Every topic on MysticIndex is researched against primary and secondary sources within the relevant tradition. For numerology, that means classical Pythagorean and Chaldean texts alongside modern interpretive works. For tarot, we reference established systems (Rider-Waite-Smith, Thoth) and the academic literature on cartomancy. For astrology, we draw on traditional and modern Western astrological frameworks.

Where traditions disagree — and they often do — we present both positions and note which interpretive school each comes from rather than flattening the difference.

Our review process

Drafts go through a two-step review: a fact-check against cited sources, and a clarity pass to make sure the writing makes sense to someone encountering the subject for the first time. We flag speculative interpretations as such.

Pages are updated when a reader submits a correction that checks out, when a source we relied on is superseded, or when we find a better way to explain something. We note material changes at the bottom of affected pages.

Why we trust this content — and why you should read it critically

We take accuracy seriously and hold ourselves to the sourcing standards above. At the same time, esoteric subjects are interpretive by nature. No one can tell you definitively what your dream about falling means for your life — we can only tell you what the symbol has traditionally represented and what it might be worth examining.
